USC Field Trip

Mark your calendars! Our USC Field trip will be Friday, Feb. 28th.  Parents, we would love for you to come and, as always, we will need drivers. More information to come. :)

Bacteriophage Models

Yesterday we made these models of bacteriophages, viruses that invade bacteria. The head of our virus models are icosahedrons, which are 20 faced polyhedrons. :)

End of 2nd Quarter

The end of the quarter is tomorrow, Friday 1/24, which means it is the last day to turn in any classwork, homework, or missing assignments. Tomorrow is also a minimum day, so school will be dismissed at 11:30am. :) 

Also, please sign up to help at the book fair this Monday/Tuesday afternoon! Call/text me or sign up outside the classroom if you would like to help. Thanks!

UCLA Trip

Book Fair Help Needed

Parents, the school needs your help.  In order to have a fantastic book fair, we need fantastic parents to sign up for a time slot to volunteer after school.  Every grade is responsible for certain days.  This year, 4th grade and 7th grade are responsible for recruiting parents for Monday and Tuesday, January 27th & 28th.  We would greatly appreciate it if you could sign up for a time slot after school.  Your  child can also sign up for you.  The signup is located outside our classroom.  Thank you!!

Bowl-a-thon Fundraiser

6th, 7th, and 8th Grade Bowl-a-thon Fundraiser

10:00 AM Sat. January 25th @ Del Rosa Lanes 1499 E. Highland Ave. SBDNO

*Bowlers must arrive 30 min before start time.

*Three games

*$15 per bowler entry fee (includes shoe rentals). This money is due to DRCS BY Friday, Jan. 17th.  Non students are permitted to bowl for $20/person.

*Students collect pledges using the pledge sheet they received.  Sponsors may choose a flat pledge or to pledge per pin.  Monies will directly benefit their fundraising accounts.  Pledged must be submitted to the DRCS office by Wednesday, February 5th.

*Checks payable to DRCS  with "Bowl-a-thon" & student's name on the memo line.

Literature

Two important things regarding Literature...

1. Students' typed essays are due Friday 1/17.  This is worth a large portion of their grade.

2. STARTING NEXT WEEK (1/13) Literature homework will now be posted on Mrs. Barr's blog.  Click the "Mrs. Barr's Blog" tab at the top to get to her blog quickly.

Week of 1/8/14

• School Spirit Day is Friday. WEAR RED!
• History test on the Byzantine Empire on Friday
• Literature essay due Friday, January 17th.
• UCLA trip is also on Friday, January 17th! Woohoo! A permission slip will go out soon.
